If the Advent Vega lives up to the specs  below, it’ll be the first low cost 10-Inch capacitive touchscreen Android tablet that isn’t junk.  Due to be released by Dixons group on 18th October for £250, it’s running the latest Android 2.2 and houses a 1Ghz Tegra chipset, so on paper at least it looks to […]

I’ve been holding off posting anything about the 2.2 upgrade for the HTC Desire the last few days.  There have been rumours much like the long delayed HTC Hero update and I simply wasn’t going to fall for it until someone actually confirmed from HTC themselves. It looks like that day has finally come, the official […]

[Warning: Rooting and flashing aren’t for those of a weak constitution.  If you’re not sure about it, don’t do it.  For the brave, this is surprisingly easy though not without minor risk.] I finally had enough of waiting for HTC to bake Sense UI into Android 2.2, I need my tasty treats now.  I already […]

It’s a bit vague but it’s better than the endless forum rumours. HTC PR have officially said that all current handsets (Wildfire/Legend/Desire) will be getting Froyo/Android 2.2 before Christmas. They also drop the suggestion that Gingerbread will be available around January from Google. The delay for Froyo shouldn’t be as long as the infamous delay […]

Although it feels like Froyo is old news now, Android 2.2 hasn’t actually been released into the wild officially. There were a few OTA updates that went out to select users (mostly tech media by the sound of it) and a couple of leaked Rom. Until now that is. Google have announced that the OTA […]

Remember that 7-inch Samsung tablet?  You know, this one Well Engadget are reporting now that it’s rumoured to be running Anrdoid 2.2/Froyo on a 1.2Ghz Cortex A8 processor (SWEET!).  The display should be a Super AMOLED (might help with direct sunlight), 4000mah battery, 16GB of internal storage storage and takes up to a 32GB microSD […]

Techcrunch have a video of the new push API for Froyo in action.  Specifically, pushing webpages and Google Maps from the desktop browser (Chrome)to the phone’s browser and Maps app.  All you need to install is a Chrome extension and an Android app.  Can’t wait to try this out.

The rumours have begun, a HTC support supervisor let slip that the release date for Android 2.2 on The HTC Desire will be June 23rd.  Even if this is to be trusted (and there is lots of hot air on XDA Developers) expect this date to get pushed back and back and back, just like […]

Lifehacker have their favourite Android 2.2 features in screen shots and it includes an important feature I’ve been waiting for. Finally Google have implmented the ability to copy and paste in the native GMail app, previously you could only copy links, email addresses and phone numbers.  Now all text can be copied.  Now the implementation […]

There are already reports of Android 2.2 being pushed out to Nexus Ones over the air and now Google has apparently that a slow roll out over weeks has begun. Almost makes me wish I’d got an N1 over the Desire (almost). I can only hope HTC get an OTA release out sooner rather than […]
