Windows 8 fail

02Jun11

Windows 8’s tablet interface just got shown off at D9 and it looks like WinPho essentially.A great idea right?  Slick new interface design, exactly what was needed. RUINED! MS just revealed that there is not a cut down version of Windows got tablets,it’s all the same bloated version for tablets and desktops. I know that I […]

I’ve noticed some lag (and the occasional crash) on the Asus Transformer’s Honeycomb browser since the last minor update. Now I understand the Android 3.1 update in June will make the browser, and the OS in general, a hell of a lot more stable but for those tablets that don’t have an announced upgrade date […]

I know,HP said they’d canned the HP Slate tablet PC.I’m guessing in light of the iPad’s sales figures they’ve revived it. It’s still running Windows 7 (full OS, not WinPho) and coming in at $700, but they’re aiming it at Enterprise rather than the consumer. Probably a good idea,I don’t see this being much better […]

If the Advent Vega lives up to the specs  below, it’ll be the first low cost 10-Inch capacitive touchscreen Android tablet that isn’t junk.  Due to be released by Dixons group on 18th October for £250, it’s running the latest Android 2.2 and houses a 1Ghz Tegra chipset, so on paper at least it looks to […]

Looks like that Android tablet from Next (yes, the clothing retailer) is just as bad as I expected, according to the BBC.   As the reporter says, it’s Google that need to worry here because all these cheap Chinese devices are goingt o take a toll on the Android brand.

Meh.  I don’t know what universe Lazaridis inhabits with phrases like [the tablet is] “an amplified view of what’s already on your BlackBerry”.  Has he actually used those busted, crappy java apps? It’s good that they have built the OS from scratch though, rather than port over the smartphone OS.  Have to wait until 2011 to […]
