Rumours: who were the mystery bidders for Palm?
15Jul10
Well according to rumours today,Google,RIM,Lenovo and Apple were all allegedly bidding on Palm.
HP offered twice as much as Apple in the end to become the winning bidder. Most likely Apple just wanted Palm’s extensive patent portfolio so it’s good for those working at Palm that HP are also interested in the company itself.

An Apple-owned Palm would be interesting, considering the design force that Palm once was with the association of IDEO.
They would be a force to recon with. I fear that in reality, Apple would take the engineers they want, fold Palm and sit on their armory of patents.
Right. Not necessarily the founding fathers’ hope for the patent system.
