Android 3.0/Gingerbread: Google allowing shells like Sense UI, but want default UI as option

14Jul10
Eldar Murtazin, a Russian blogger who was in trouble with Nokia last week for not giving back a prototype handset he came across(somehow), just posted an interesting tweet.  I don’t know where he is getting this info from but regarding Android 3.0/Gingerbread he says “Google will not insist on remove of any shells from next gen of Android, for instance, HTC sense. But want ability to switch to default UI”
If true, this is good news for HTC in particular who have invested a lot in the Sense UI across all mobile platforms, but also for Motorola and Samsung who have also outfitted their handsets with UI tweaks and widgets to differentiate their ranges.  This might also be good for users if they want to remove whatever shell the manufacturer has added and gain extra resources on their phone.
