New iPhone security risk – Ubuntu can browse your filesystem like a USB drive

27May10

This is a bit of a security issue that Apple need to address quickly.

Apparently if you plug an iPhone 3GS (not jailbroken, latest firmware) in the latest Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Linux distro, it will let you access the entire filesystem of the phone. Unencrypted read access.

If I can get hold of someone’s iPhone I will give this a try myself.
