iPhone 4G contains the same processor as the iPad

Chipworks have done a tear down of the iPhone 4G and it looks like it contains the same Apple A4 processor as the iPad.  No surprises really, should mean that the phone will fly though.
Benchmarks seem to suggest it may be more powerful than the 1Ghz Snapdragon the Nexus One/Desire/Evo 4G use.  I will be interested to see how Apple deal with the battery drain that other 1Ghz processors seem to have though.  Obviously they will be using different multitasking methods and have the benefit of the sealed battery.
Update: The more I think about it, the worse I think that benchmark is actually.  We have no idea what kind of overhead there is on each OS and all they are really doing is timing page renders.  Something that isn’t utterly dependent on processor.  Could be browser optimisation, could be graphics processing, could be wifi/3G drivers.  Guess we will have to wait and see how the new iPhone stacks up, I wouldn’t be surprised if they underclock it for power consumption/heat reduction.
