iPad data options revealed by two more UK networks

10May10
The Register again has a summary, this time for O2 and Vodafone.
It’s good to see that O2 have got themselves organised and will be notifiying customers  when they approach their data limit.  They will allow you to check data usage, top up the account, upgrade or cancel the tariff all from the iPad.
O2 start with £2 for 1 day (500MB), 1GB and 3GB monthly allowances are £10 and £15 respectively.
Vodafone, as usual, have a worse offering of 250MB a month for £10 or 5GB for £25.
It seems to me that O2’s data plans and fair usage policy is still considerably better than the other networks, not sure if this is rooted in their iPhone exclusive deal with Apple that forced them to think about data plans more than everyone else.
It will be interesting to see how many people actually take their iPad out of the house often enough to merit a 3G connection.  In London I think it’s an invite to get mugged
