Tip: HTC Desire Keyboard Spell Checking

This is something that’s been bugging me since the HTC Hero’s Sense UI version of the keyboard.

When you first start using the keyboard the predictive text is pretty good but if you’re just typing away at larger words, sometimes spelling mistakes can creep in quite easily.

A friend who also recently got a HTC Desire mentioned it to me this morning and I remember that for some reason, HTC don’t enable spelling correction by default.

That’s right, the keyboard has built in spelling correction and here’s how you can enable it:

*Bring up the keyboard
*Hit the cog button
*Hit Text Input
*Add a tick for both Spelling Correction boxes (these are for two different types of keyboard layout)
*Exit back out the menu with the back button

Voila, an excellent keyboard just became an exponentially better keyboard. For my money, better than the iPhone’s.
